When it comes to people and their pets, there’s friendship, and then there’s @cutieandthebeast. Tara Prucha captures the gentle, loving moments between “Cutie” — Tara’s 5-year-old daughter, Siena — and “Beast” — the family’s 3-year-old Doberman, Buddha. The two are inseparable. “When Siena comes home, Buddha is her patient shadow,” says Tara. “If she needs someone to approve of her latest creation, or if mom is being the most unfair person in the world, he is there for her.”

Tara steals shots from their everyday scenes living in Seattle, such as Buddha lending a cocked ear while Siena reads him Korean bedtime stories or a perfectly still paw while she paints his toenails. “I cherish that message of teaching them how to be kind to one another,” Tara says. In the spirit of honesty, Tara was asked what else the world should know about their friendship. Seeing as Buddha could not speak (in human) for himself, his confidant Siena stepped in — as best friends do. In her words: “He’s a Doberman, and he’s afraid of the vacuum.”
